In addition to life-saving medical care and daily specialized care, we also provide learning opportunities to all the children in our homes. No matter the special medical needs, every child deserves opportunities to learn and develop in a supportive environment. And that is why in 2020, we officially launched our Dew Drops Classroom of Smiles! Currently there are 29 children participating in the Dew Drops classrooms – we have one set up in both of our long term homes. The other children in our care are either too young to attend school or they receive educational learning opportunities at local schools or at the welfare institute’s early education center.
So what exactly do we do in the Dew Drops Classroom of Smiles? Well, we divide the day into a morning session and an afternoon session. Our teacher, Ms. Nana, creates lesson plans, themes, and activities for every week. The schedule includes morning exercises, independent play, nursery rhymes and poems, science experiments, cooking, arts and crafts, dance, and much more!
